Summer camps are more than something to do when school’s out. They are an essential component of your child’s healthy development – physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. The Memorial Sports Centre is pleased to offer Rec'n Crew, a Summer Fun Club (SFC). This summer day program involves a variety of fun games, crafts, songs, special events and activities for 7 to 11 year olds.
The Memorial Sports Centre also offers Specialty Camps. The Specialty Camps are designed to offer participants’ activities in a specialized or specific interest area.
Specialty Camp ages vary. Please see program descriptions.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q How many participants are taken each week?
A Safety and quality program supervision is our first priority . Our SFC offers a staff to child ratio of 1 leader to 10 participants. Our Specialty Camp ratio is 1 leader to 7 participants.

Q Who is the staff?
A SFC team members are post secondary and secondary students who possess leadership experience and a keen interest to work with children. All are fi rst aid and CPR certified and have undergone training to enrich your child's life and help them develop new interests and skills by exposing them to a wide variety of diverse and stimulating experiences.
Specialty Camp instructors are local “experts” in their field. Most are adults who have specialized training and experience.

Q How long is their day?
A SFC as well as the Specialty Camps offer structured activities between 9 a.m. & 4 p.m. Children bring their own lunch and this period is supervised with an opportunity for free play
Extra Supervision is available for an additional cost. See details on page 12.

Q Can I register on a daily basis?
A Registrations are accepted on a weekly basis only. It is our belief that children gain the best experience when enjoying the week of activities. As well, it allows our staff to build a positive rapport with the participants.

Q Can I claim summer camp fees on my income tax?
A It is our understanding that camp registration fees may be utilized as a “child care” expense. Please check with whomever prepares your tax return.
